Festival Voix d’Amériques (2004 Edition)

New Horizons Ahead!

The Festival Voix d’Amériques (FVA) is dedicated to oral literature, and to words brought to life with flair and outrageous experimentation.

For seven days poets, writers, singers and performers present the world in their own words in French, English, Spanish and Aboriginal languages. This is the purest tradition of spoken word where text climbs up off the page and dances before a lively, involved audience.

The guest of honour of this 3rd Edition is singer, songwriter, performer Urbain Desbois, an engaging character and an iconoclastic, playful performer.

Come and discover the voices who have made spoken word what it is: sincere, original, upending the conventional.

The 3rd Edition of the FVA features two prestigious American artists.

Anne Waldman
Intimately linked to the Beat Literary Movement and the new American poetry, Anne Waldman is a poet, performer and professor at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics, which she founded in 1974 with poet Allen Ginsberg.

Ursula Rucker
Ursula Rucker made a name for herself with the tracks she contributed to the last three recordings by The Roots and with her two solo albums. Attracted to diverse genres, with roots firmly grounded in hip-hop, she is redefining spoken word with her trademark socio-political urgency and sweet “song-speak.”
