Night Shift

The Night Shift is back at our beloved Casa del Popolo, still serving up edgy evenings but with a new formula. It begins at 10pm with a musical show or performance running 45 minutes. The Open Mic hosted by Pascal-Angelo Fioramore gets underway at 11pm.

For the first three Shifts, we are partnering with the indie alternative music festival Sous La Neige / Under the Snow. To make sure they’re memorable, we’ve asked the three bands to provide a musical backdrop for the Open Mics as well. From Monday to Thursday, you’ll find back again the wonderful Guido Del Fabbro and Philippe Brault. And you can put on your CV that you were backed by two of the most amazing musicians in Montreal.

Warmed up? Part two is the Open Mic. This year, performers have 5 minutes rather than 3 to show us their stuff. And for the first time, you can register in advance. Emerging artists are everywhere right now, and we want to present them all. As usual, anything goes: poetry, prose, performance, song, English, French or any other language. But be warned: it has to be your own work. Don’t even think about hiding behind Cohen or Miron (what, you think we wouldn’t notice?). Our one rule is: you have to work with our stupendous house band, who are there to assist.

Register in advance by email at lesfilles@electriques.ca or on-site starting at 10 pm the night of. Arrive early. Spots go quickly.
